Minority Report Analysis

Shot 1:
Medium shot (MCS)
The medium close up shot shows the full expression of the characters within the photo. As you can see on this photo the first character really stands out out of the rest. This makes him look powerful and already informs the audience that this guy is the main actor of the film (Tom cruise).

Shot 2:
Wide shot (WS)
The wide shot is a very clever shot because it somehow captures the whole scene and really focuses on the whole dilemma of the picture or film. This shot is used because it captures various shots of many characters in one scene so you know whats happening during the film. In many films this shot is particularly used for chases since it offers a wider range so audience can capture and identify the setting and atmosphere.

Shot 3:

Medium close up shot (MCU)
A medium close up shot really focuses on the persons face and pose. as you can see in this photo the background is slightly blurred out. this is because it highlights the characters face and makes him seem more visible than other objects surrounding him. They also want to capture the characters pose as well as also capturing his face. this shot is taken from a different angle (from the right side). the character is looking directly at the camera.

  1. WWW: You've identified the shots pretty well and thought about what they tell the audience.
EBI: You need a little more depth to your analysis making sure you explore each aspect of the shot. For the wide shot you could also consider what that location suggests to the audience.
LR: Why did the director choose the alleyway location for the rest of this scene? Think about what it might suggest to the audience.
