The Institution behind the programme

BBC News (also referred to as the BBC News Channel) is the BBC's 24-hour rolling news television network in the United Kingdom. The channel launched as BBC News 24 on 9 November 1997 at 17:30 as part of the BBC's foray into digital domestic television channels, becoming the first competitor to Sky News, which had been running since 1989. BBC news is owned by BBC-The British Broadcasting Corporation.
BBC One is the flagship television channel of the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) in the United KingdomIsle of Man and Channel Islands. It was launched on 2 November 1936 as the BBC Television Service, and was the world's first regular television service with a high level of image resolution. It was renamed BBC TV in 1960, using this name until the launch of sister channel BBC2 in 1964, whereupon the BBC TV channel became known as BBC1, with the current spelling adopted in 1997.
The channel's annual budget for 2012–13 is £1.14 billion. The channel is funded by the television licence fee together with the BBC's other domestic television stations, and therefore shows uninterrupted programming without commercial advertising. It is currently the most watched television channel in the United Kingdom, ahead of its traditional rival for ratings leadership, ITV.
As of June 2013 the channel controller for BBC One is Charlotte Moore, who succeeded Danny Cohen initially as Acting Controller from May 2013.
Saturday Kitchen

Saturday Kitchen Live is a 90 minute cookery programme, which is broadcast live on BBC One on Saturday mornings. It is currently presented by James Martin; previous presenters have included Antony Worrall Thompson andGregg Wallace. The programme is currently produced by Cactus TV (perhaps best known for the Richard & Judy show on Channel 4). The programme has also aired on RTÉ One in Ireland on Saturday mornings, the episodes shown are several months old.

The target audience

The target audience for BBC news could possibly be seen as being aimed at families because that is usually the common time for families too sit down together and bond or eat (etc). It isn't particularly aimed at a specific gender, 50% male and 50% female viewers. BBC news is aimed at people who earn an average wage because it is presented on a channel that every television has access too. It is also aimed at people who work or have a job because it comes on just after the average time of someone getting back home from work (9-5 job).

The running order

Well from the last three days BBC news has shown more critical and political news due to the ISIS outbreak
this news went on for a while since it a breaking news and it has to be heard to everyone so they would bring this up every hour.
since the three days this had been continuing but eventually in the evening the news ended with sports and talks about marketing and business.
the editors put this in this order because the main news is serious and sad so they put this first then after they add sports to change the mood and finish with marketing and business in order to normalize the circumstances.

  1. WWW: You've got some good information here and BBC News is an appropriate choice for the research project.
EBI: Overall, this is disappointing. You obviously need to research online but almost all of this text is lifted straight from Wikipedia - you won't remember it if you don't write it in your own words. There are some basic errors (how can the viewing figures be 256 million when the UK has a population of 65 million?) and the final task - the most important - is not done correctly. You were supposed to list the running order for the programme three days running and THEN analyse why the stories were placed in that order.
LR: Do you regularly watch the programme you researched? Why/why not? Where do you get your news from? Answer in a comment below.

    1. I watch BBC news and Sky news
I normally get the news on my phone daily. I myself don't find BBC news that fascinating since its a bit too formal and targets a different age group.
